While working in Visual Studio 2008 today, the application suddenly crashed out of nowhere and thought at first that there's something wrong with the file. Since the project was huge, I also have wondered if maybe that the size of the project might have affected the program. After giving it some thought and looking at the file, everything seems to be OK and the only possible reason that it would crash is if I have an add-in that is causing the issue. I went straight to Control Panel > Programs and Features to uninstall a few add-in that I have installed but realized that the link or button to uninstall the program was not there! I tried double-clicking and right-clicking but in my attempts, I didn't find any luck. I noticed however that when I highlight a well established program that it does show the uninstall button.
I did a little research online and found out that Vista (I'm not sure in XP) shows programs in the programs list that are subprograms or not necessarily program types. Take notice that I'm running Vista without any service packs but this shouldn't cause an issue whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I'd be more worried if I have a service pack installed as this might have caused the issue since this feature has been working all this time (or that's what I thought). Anyways, in able to find my way around this issue and finally uninstall the add-in that's causing the issue, I have to use
CCleaner which can be downloaded for free. In my opinion, this is one of the must-have applications available-- regardless if it's free or not since it optimizes your system. You can also use the application aside from uninstalling programs, to manage your startup applications for faster boot. So anyways, if you use CCleaner, the uninstall is within the 'Tools' section and from there, you can uninstall pretty much any applications listed in your programs and features.
